Roberta Peabody :: The Evangelical Alliance Mission

Roberta Peabody grew up in Templeton, Massachusetts, and was a member of Pastor Ed's first church, First Baptist Church of Baldwinville.  While in college, Roberta first sensed God's call to serve in mission. She
is currently seconded to Word of Life Press in Japan from the Evangelical Alliance Mission.

Here is Roberta's latest (0ctober 1, 2008) prayer letter from the field:

Hi Everyone!
Whew!  The September work team from Indiana made it here safely, AND completed their main task of getting the new kitchen floor done at our MCK Conference Center (which is owned by the Japanese publishing ministry I work for).  They were a small team, but worked really hard!  The four men were able to work alongside my co-worker, whom they support. An 80 year old retired missionary came back just to help out at that time!!! We only had 5 days without seminars or guests, so it was exciting when we heard they had completed the floor.  Their location was up in the mountains two hours from the main office.

Next, Tom & Ginna bring ten people from their supporting church in Arizona.  One of their main tasks will be making a pathway up to a prayer chapel at the top of a steep hill.  We hope the painting of the wood exterior can be done in October, as the pine needles start to fall after this month.

Most of these volunteers come at their own personal expense, or as part of church project.  The Arizona church hopes to send teams to help over the next five years, but what blessing!  Bill, the retired missionary, is here for most of both teams and is really enjoying his time.

Please pray for the Singing Christmas Tree, which starts up at the same conference center from November 22 -- December 24.  One mission is sending a short term team from America, and an international team that consists of about 25 people has been formed by another group.  The plans of what night singing will be done are still under discussion.  Pray for the staff as they prepare tracts and other items to distribute to the nearly 30,000 visitors that will come to see the Christmas lights!

By the way I am in school part time, finishing up an ancient graduate school degree.  It is challenging, but the Lord's is providing the brain power to make it though!  Thankfully I am NOT doing this online.  I get to have face-to-face contact!

Blessings,
Roberta

The following letter was received from Roberta in August, 2005:

"Guess who always falls off the communications truck!! ME! I am catching up after nearly a month in the states. At WLPM we are now receiving plenty of books to review for possible translation. The conference we attended was the International Christian Retail Show. Over 10,000 Christians, Artist, Authors, Music and much, much more.

It was neat to be able to share about the work of publishing in Japan,
and how different the approach is, since there is so many who have yet
to believe. I remember one artist at the show, after talking to me for a bit, prayed for the work in Japan. Oh, to see more Christians worldwide have a burden for the Japanese living in their midst. (340,000 in the United States)

Tomorrow I will pick up my anti malarial medicine for a fall missions trip
with my Tokyo church. I will be going to Banda Aceh, Indonesia for 10 days with five others from Kurume Bible Fellowship.

We will be going to assist with relief work. This will be my first 'other' Asia mission trip. The missionary to Japan is taking a side trip? I had at first waited for others to sign up, but then felt the clear prompting of the Lord to put my name in. The Japan field leadership is willing for me to do this, but it does not fit into the category for use of ministry funds. Since this does not directly relate to my work with TEAM in Japan, I will take personal vacation time, and pay for it personally as well. Because it is a strict Muslim area, we will have to wear head coverings, and long pants and long sleeved shirts are recommended. And yes, it will be well over 95° for sure."

Blessings
